How did that hamburger end up on your plate? There were farmers who harvested and grew the lettuce, tomatoes and onions, the wheat to make the buns and a rancher who raised the cattle who gave you the meat. This was all processed then brought to a super market or farmer’s market near you.
Imagine if all of the above weren’t in place. How would you get your food? What would you end up eating? There is plenty to be grateful for with each bite you take and there are two directions you can go with this.
Before taking a single bite, express your gratitude either out loud or in your head for the food you are about to consume and the journey that it brought it to your plate. Thank it for nourishing your body and keeping it healthy and free of disease.
Practice meditation while eating. I’ll admit, I find this easier to do when eating solo than eating in a group. You can do this by focusing on your breath and using a mantra such as, “I am grateful for the food that I am consuming and that it is nourishing my body.” Repeat this mantra as you eat slowly and mindfully, remembering your breath throughout the process.
Try one or both of these methods some time over the next week. How did it go?

2. Planning for the week ahead
3. Our new home coming together
4. Knowing the foods that nourish my body the best
