If you ask me if I am a crafter I would respond with a solid no, but if you ask if me if any time I do complete a craft that I feel like the most successful and talented person on the face of the Earth, I would respond with a solid, hell yeah!
Apparently it is national crafting month. Yeah there's a month for everything. Coincidently I stumbled upon this post on Lauren Conrad's web-site for an easy craft project and I quickly fell in love. What it is is an incredibly simple macrame project that you can make using different materials in different sizes.
Maybe a simple craft is exactly what you need to feel like you are the most talented, artsy, creative person on the face of the Earth.
Like I said, it's easy.
Step One: Go buy yourself a macrame ring (I used an 18" as recommended), while you're out buy yourself one to two spools of yarn (do they call them spools? It doesn't matter, I call them spools).
Step Two: Cut four feet pieces of yarn. I mixed blue and white so I did a little blue and then white and then filled in with more blue to suit my creative needs.
Step Three: Fold the yarn in half, hold the folded side behind your ring and string the loose ends over the ring and through the folded side. Pull tight.
Step Four: Continue for what feels like a million times until you have attached all the yarn you want.
Step Five: Trim the ends of your yarn to make a "V" design if you'd like or a diagonal line. I would recommend using fabric shears, my office scissors weren't quite up to snuff leaving me with split ends.
Step Six: Hang on wall. Take pics. Brag to your friends about how you are the craftiest person on the face of this little blue planet and your talent cannot and will not be restrained.
If you are looking for a little variation, my next version of this will be about three to four times the size with a large stick instead of a macrame ring and it will use this really cool centimeter thick yarn I found.
