This week I have a pretty easy ask of you. Be uncontrollably grateful! Make gratitude the first thing you think about all day every day. Be absolutely ridiculously grateful. I know you can do this.
A Grateful Drive
Driving to work tomorrow, thank the sun for shining, thank your fellow drivers for letting you into traffic, thank the friendly police officer for not giving you a ticket for speeding (we all know you were). Be thankful for the beautiful trees that are in their spring bloom and the bees that helped get them to this point and do so year after year. Don’t stop there.
Every Meal is a Grateful Meal
Be grateful for every bite of food you take, the farmer, distributor, and grocery store that brought it to you. Be grateful for the plate you are eating it on and the fork you are eating it with. Be thankful for the music you are listening to or the information being provided to you on your preferred news channel.
Your Go-To Grat-i-tude
When you are stuck, go back to the good old-fashioned AIR! Be grateful for every breath you take and how easy it was to take it. Imagine people who have problems breathing or just think about the last time you had a sore throat. That will make you appreciative of how easy it is to simply take a breath or swallow without pain!
Grateful for Others
While this is all going on in your head throughout your days, don’t be stingy, share your gratitude with others. Thank every single person in the service industry you come into contact with. Thank your waiter for the water refill, for bringing your food, for bringing your bill, for being a great waiter.
Thank the person who held the door for you or gave you their cart in the parking lot. Better yet, thank your fellow human by being that person. Acts of kindness are a fantastic way to share your gratitude with others. Open doors for others, pay for the person behind you in the coffee shop drive through, or share a friendly smile. A smile might be just the thing to turn around the day of a stranger.
I dare you to be that ridiculous person who says thank you to everybody, who is so joyously grateful to be part of the human race they seemingly float through life. We all know these people. These are the people who it seems nothing fazes. They don’t get bogged down in the minutia and take negativity in stride. They never seem to assume negative intent. Be this person. Like I said before, I know you can!
Maybe it means going out of your way to make a meal for someone you love or ironing their clothes so they can start their day off a little easier.
Be grateful for that person that tests you day in and day out. They are making you a stronger person.
Be grateful for this moment. A lot of people did not make it as far as you did in life. Be grateful for it.
This is your challenge for the next week:
Every moment of every day this week be uncontrollably grateful. I suggest you write down what how you feel at the end of every day and how your day went. Are you excited to try this? Let me know by liking and commenting below!
