Happy Thirsty Thursday, where I bring you everything I am thirsting for more of this week! The weather is warming up, here in Nebraska at least. When you walk down the streets or sit on your porch you can smell the attracting fragrances of all the trees trying to get themselves pollenated. Trees are getting their leaves back and lawns are full-blown green. With all of these springy new additions to my world I want to spend more time outside which is what has inspired my Thirsty Thursday post this week.
That Patio Life
Dennis and I just had dinner and drinks on a patio of a local restaurant and it was down right delightful. Have you noticed in your gratitude journey, that the more you focus on gratitude the more you get down to the nitty gritty of what you are actually grateful for? I have! What I was grateful for in that moment was the perfect weather, spending time with my husband, sharing thoughts and ideas that we hadn't shared before and trying new foods and drinks. I am a bit of a food experimenter!
This is the perfect time to get your gratefulness on and figure out what you are really grateful for and do it on a patio. The weather is screaming for it right now!
Get that Booty Shakin' Outside
If you are grateful for your body, all of the amazing functions it serves, all that it does without you even knowing, how it looks out for you even when you don't then you know you need to treat you body well. Although it is nice that we have so many resources to workout inside, it cannot compare to getting outside and soaking up that vitamin D. This week, one of my favorite things is getting outside to run. Now don't get me wrong, my run is comparable to some people's fast walks, but it is still exhilarating. You know those wonderful smelling trees I was talking about earlier? Go on a run down a trail and even when you are struggling you will be invigorated when you get a whiff of a flowering tree. Not to mention the immediate boost of energy you get when the sun hits your skin. On top of this, a run, walk or stroll outside gives you so much to be grateful for: trees, flowers, air, community, neighbors, exercise, moving joints.
Spring Clean Like a Champ (Yes mom, I clean)
OK, so you probably won't necessarily be spring cleaning outside, but when I am doing a top to bottom home cleaning/decluttering/reorganizing I like to have the windows open. You don't realize how good clean outdoor air smells until you open your windows and let it in. If you are going to do some deep cleaning/decluttering/tidying I highly recommend you take a couple hours of prep-work and read The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up by Marie Kondo. I talked about this book last week in my Thirsty Thursday, but I really cannot get enough of it. She has really helped me work through decluttering by getting rid of stuff that I felt as if I had a sentimental connection with, but wasn't ever going to use again or ever.
This is especially true for my books. I tended to buy book after book after book that I wanted to read, but by the time I read all the book I had already bought I had lost the flavor for the new ones. I am now down to only the books that give me joy and excitement to read.
What outdoor activity are you starting to do now that Spring is here? Comment below.
