Vision boards are a tool you can use to get everything you want from the universe. You can create a general one for life and include the car you want, the house you want, words that describe how you want to feel, like "happy," "stable," "love," or "joy!" You could also include goals such as, a college degree, or pictures of places you want to travel, or complete a marathon. I have heard many stories of vision boards really working. For example, a woman who put the description of her perfect man on her vision board and ended up marrying a man who fit her description perfectly. Mimi Ikonn put together a vision board, put it under her bed for years, finally pulled it out to look at it and realized that everything she put on there she had achieved, earned, or received.
My husband and I have used vision boards and have felt it's powers. We have received jobs, homes, and first class plane tickets that matched exactly what we had on our board. This is on top of maintaining positive relationships with all the people we have on our boards.
Every time you walk by your vision board you perform a mini visualization practice. However, the great thing about a vision board is that you do not even need to look at it daily, or weekly, or even monthly! Just like Mimi above, you can roll it up and put it under your bed and it can still serve it's purpose. Consider a vision board like a letter to the universe letting it know exactly what you want.
What you need:
-A board. You can use a framed pin board, a magnetic board, or just a piece of cardboard.
-Magazines or a printer. You will probably want to include images that you either get from magazines or that you find online.
-Paper. You might want to use different papers to decorate your board and make it more visually appealing. You can also write down favorite quotes or mantras.
-Scissors. 'Nuff said.
-Markers. Used for decorating and adding key words.
-Glue, push pins, staples, or tape. To attach things to your board depending on board type.
-Any other odds and ends you would want to add that bring you joy (Use the Marikondo method and only add things that bring you joy!) This is where you can get fun. You can include:
- Powerball tickets with your lucky numbers
- Pictures that remind you of fun times you have had
- Cards that friends have hand written to you
- Trinkets from your travels
- Something you found that brought you immediate joy
- Things that remind you of when you felt bliss, maybe a dried flower from your wedding or your child's baby sock
I created a vision board for Tone It Up's 2016 Bikini Challenge. This is an annual challenge that is focused around daily workout challenges, following a nutrition plan, getting yourself in the best shape of your life, support other women on the same journey, and build bonds with women across the world.
What I included on my vision board:
- Pictures of my trainers (I find them incredibly inspiring)
- Pictures of Turks & Caicos which is the grand prize of the challenge
- My goals written out
- My daily check lists
- A 100 mile countdown
I used a basic push pin board and classic silver and clear pins. This way if I get more things as the challenge goes on (maybe before and progress pictures), then I can easily rearrange. i painted the board black and added silver paper to half of it as a back drop.
