A couple weeks ago Dennis and I were lucky enough to finally be able to visit New York City. Neither of us had ever been to New York City which makes traveling so much more interesting...and nerve wracking! We knew from coworkers of my husband that public transportation from the airport and throughout the city was pretty simple, however history had thus far only taught my husband and I that we are terrible at public transportation.
It actually went really well. The only snafu was right at the beginning. We landed, made our way outside to the lines for taxis, buses, etc. Let's just say we thought we were looking for a train for about 20 minutes when we should have been looking for a bus. Fail. After that we basically killed public transportation, kicked its butt and took its name. We even got a free train ticket (once we found this mysterious train) because we naively tried to pay for a train with a subway pass. Double fail.
Thanks friendly train conductor!
We traveled for 24 hours straight and this is what we saw!
Little Italy was my favorite part of NYC that we got to. I love eating outside and we found a cool unmarked bar with great drinks. Now that we have a taste of a lot of NYC, next time we go to New York we are definitely going to stay put in the Soho, Little Italy, Chinatown area and conquer that area.
Do you have any tips for our next trip to NYC? Comment below, I'd love to hear them!
This is what I am grateful for about my first trip to New York City!
- Being able to see so much in such a small amount of time.
- Rocking my new Tumi backpack. It's black with gold accent and chic AF.
- Spending a full 24 hours in a different city with my husband
